DPI’s core value set of being a responsible citizen and helping in Africa’s development is in our culture and has led us to develop an innovative and unique Impact and ESG tool, the DPI Management System (DPIMS).
Core to this system is successfully integrating impact and ESG throughout the investment life cycle, using the tools within the proprietary DPIMS.
The DPIMS identifies impact opportunities across a variety of factors, including gender balance, job quality and job growth and climate change – linking each of these to its relevant UN SDGs.
Through this lens, our sustainability managers, in partnership with our investment teams and company management teams, assess the opportunities to improve business sustainability and impact outcomes at each investment stage.
Our ADP funds deliver impact in three ways
Investing in Africa, a financially underserved market
Investing in companies operating in industries such as healthcare, agri-business, education, renewable energy and micro-finance that have strong potential to address the world’s most pressing challenges
Declaring our intentionality in 4 Impact buckets that cover more than 10 UN Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) and include impact specific to geography and sector for each portfolio company
Supporting our portfolio
Many of our portfolio companies operate in sectors deemed as essential services, critical to the day-to-day operations of African countries. When the pandemic hit, we immediately turned our focus to supporting our companies to ensure they remained operational and able to serve their customers. We developed a proprietary COVID-19 response and recovery checklist for management teams to use as a guide in navigating the crisis. We shared this checklist through our website and webinars for anyone in Africa or elsewhere to use.
